Tanzania has partnered with the Netherlands to develop a robust potato ecosystem, aiming for sustainable development and reducing the need for imports. Agriculture Minister Hussein Bashe announced plans to establish Public-Private Potato partnerships and offer land for cultivation, in response to the Netherlands Ambassador's commitment to aiding horticulture sector growth. The workshop also saw the launch of guidelines for the avocado sub-sector development and emphasized the importance of private sector involvement in horticulture, particularly in seed multiplication. However, the development of the horticulture sector faces challenges, including the lack of adequate air transport for perishable agricultural produce, leading to business losses.
