Tara powder exports in Peru grew 114% from January to May 2021

Regarding the volume, 12,434 tons of powdered tara were exported in that period, reporting an increase of 58.3%. Idexcam explained that this good performance was due to higher shipments to China, the main destination that has a 55% share of total exports. This country acquired 6,844 tons worth 12 million dollars, amounts that meant an increase of 107.2% in weight and 189% in value. The second destination is Brazil, a market that held a 14.1% share, with 1,754 tons (+ 26%) worth 3 million dollars (+ 67%); and third is Argentina, a destination that accumulated 6.9% of participation, with 863 tons exported (+ 516%) for the price of one million dollars (+ 716%). On the other hand, during this period, there were 11 companies that exported this product, a figure lower than the 14 registered in 2020.
