The Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) Uyole in Mbeya region is distributing conservation agricultural technology to help farmers adapt to climate change and reduce production costs. This technology, which includes practices like no-till farming, covering the ground with crop residues, and crop rotation, has been shown to increase water harvesting and productivity. The institute has conducted research on various crops and finds that beans planted using this method are more marketable and command a higher price. TARI's Director General, Dr Geofrey Mkamilo, suggests using a variety of technologies to address social challenges and boost the middle class and farmer economy.
