Every September 3, Peru celebrates the National Tarwi Day with the purpose of highlighting its value as an ancestral Andean superfood, highly nutritious and protein-rich. This event aims to boost its consumption and, at the same time, strengthen the production of this crop, which constitutes the livelihood of more than 30,000 farming families. The National Tarwi Day, established through Ministerial Resolution No. 0104-2021-Midagri, aims to make visible and revalue tarwi (Lupinus mutabilis) as an ancestral Andean superfood, promoting its consumption, its commercial positioning in the world, and the strengthening of the productive chain of this food, especially for the families dedicated to its cultivation.
