In 2020, Thai agricultural exports experienced a slight decline of 3.2% compared to 19% due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but exports to countries with which Thailand has free trade agreements (FTAs) excluding ASEAN saw a growth of 2.2%, totaling 490,726 million baht. The largest markets included China, Hong Kong, Peru, Chile, New Zealand, and Australia. However, trade with ASEAN countries saw a slight expansion of 0.80%, despite a decrease in exports, with Thailand maintaining a trade surplus of 171,334 million baht. The Ministry of Agriculture is focusing on adjusting production to meet consumer needs, controlling agricultural products throughout the production chain for quality, standard, and safety, and exploring replacement markets and promoting domestic consumption to reduce dependence on foreign products.
