The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in Thailand has initiated a new center to inspect and ensure the quality of agricultural products exported by air, aiming to meet the standards of destination countries, particularly Japan. This voluntary project will manage the use of chemicals in fruits and vegetables exported to Japan, with the goal of lifting the quarantine at the Japanese checkpoint. The Department of Agriculture is responsible for overseeing the project, which has already onboarded 18 exporters, covering mangoes, bananas, asparagus, and okra. The project is expected to reduce the lost value from importer bargaining and quarantine at Japanese checkpoints by 1,200-1,400 million baht annually, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Thai exporters in the Japanese market and providing more stable income for farmers meeting the project's standards.
