According to the introduction, in the first five months of 2025, the trade volume between the Thai-Cambodian border continued to grow, reaching 80.72 billion baht, an increase of 11.20% compared to the same period last year. Among this, Thailand's exports were 63.07 billion baht, a growth of 9%; imports were 17.64 billion baht, an increase of 20%, with Thailand achieving a trade surplus of 45.43 billion baht.
Due to the border closure starting on June 7, the passage of personnel and goods, as well as domestic and international tourism in Thailand, have fallen into stagnation, with trade volume expected to decline in June. Communication with provincial commerce offices along the border indicates that business activities have slowed down, with many stores closed on both sides of the border.
According to the introduction, the export industries most affected by the border closure are vegetables and fruits. However, as it coincides with the end of the harvest season, the impact is limited. Regarding imports, especially cassava for processing and export, the department noted that alternative sourcing from other countries is possible, particularly from Laos, from which over 60% of Thailand's cassava imports originate.
