Thailand is set to produce 11.5 million tons of sugar from a crop of 106 million tons of sugarcane by the end of March, returning to pre-pandemic production levels. This is due to increased planting by farmers prompted by favorable global prices and adequate rainfall. The country consumes 2.5 million tons of sugar annually and is expected to export a significant amount in the 2021/22 crop year, with figures showing 7.69 million tons of sugar exported.
