According to reports, the durian season in eastern Thailand will end by late June. This year, there are fewer exporters and packaging plants, and durian procurement has been halted early. The main reasons are unstable weather conditions and heavy rainfall, which have led to poor durian quality and unsatisfactory fruit texture, causing merchants to turn to the southern region where the season has just begun. Durian prices in eastern Thailand have plummeted, with AB-grade orchard prices at 70-85 baht/kg, and packaging plants purchasing at 90-95 baht/kg, compared to previous end-of-season prices of 145-150 baht/kg for AB-grade or 130 baht/kg for ABC-grade.
