Thailand's frozen and processed seafood exports, including tuna, sardines, salmon, mackerel, and pet food, saw a 22% increase in 2024, reaching 1.48 million tons with an export value of US$2.5 billion, largely due to a 30% rise in canned and bagged tuna. The United States remained the largest tuna market, but its market share slightly decreased, while exports to Japan fell by 8%. There was a 42% surge in tuna exports to the Middle East, especially to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Israel, and a 45% increase in sales to Africa. Imports of frozen whole tuna from Taiwan and Micronesia also increased by 26%, and imports of cooked tuna and fish fillets, especially from China, also grew in 2024.
