The "10th Rice Planting Day" in Bafra Plain, Türkiye's Second Largest Rice Production Center

The 10th "Traditional Rice Planting Day" was held with intense participation in the Bafra Plain, one of Türkiye's most fertile agricultural areas. Officials speaking at the event highlighted that the region ranks second in rice production nationwide after Edirne. The event, attended by Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı, Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Halit Doğan, and Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director İbrahim Sağlam, also shared 2024 production figures. It was reported that last year, 118,337 tons of rice were produced on 151,520 decares of land in Bafra. While 2025 rice license applications continue, it was noted that so far, 1,614 farmers from 49 rural neighborhoods have applied to plant rice on 101,000 decares.
