Last night, the Senate approved the General Budget Law of the National Administration for the Fiscal Year 2026 by 46 affirmative votes, 25 negative votes, and one abstention. Article 59 of the regulation contemplates financial flows and the use of trust funds integrated wholly or predominantly by assets and/or funds of the national state, one of which is of special importance for the agricultural sector and rural communities. It is the Infrastructure Trust Fund for Water, which is fed by an aliquot of 5% on the value of fuel, while in the case of compressed natural gas (GNC) the contribution is 9%. An official document indicates that the Water Infrastructure Trust Fund registered income of 156,585 million pesos in the first nine months of 2025.
