The ACOR sugar factory in Olmedo has started processing the first beets of the season, with a target of 1.3 million tons from 12,154 hectares, a 20% increase from last year. Harvesting began on September 30th, and deliveries started on October 11th in Castilla y León. Despite some areas being affected by heavy rains, the initial 30,000 tons have an average polarization of 16.5 degrees, surpassing the previous campaign. Favorable weather and effective pest control have reduced disease incidence, with León experiencing a 60% increase in beet cultivation. The Cooperative is contracting for the 2024-25 campaign, offering a minimum income of 61 euros per ton as production costs have decreased.
