Malaysia: The agro-food sector recorded encouraging growth

KUALA LUMPUR: The initiative to strengthen the agro-food sector which was piloted since 2022 has shown encouraging development, said Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. Mohamad said the achievement could be translated through stronger growth in the agro-food sector in 2023 with a 4.3 percent increase to RM181.4 billion compared to RM173.9 billion in 2022. "The agro-food sector makes a significant contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which is 11.6 percent. This calculation covers the agro-food industry under the agriculture, manufacturing and service sectors.
