HIGHLIGHTS Soybean meal continues to be the primary protein ingredient in balanced animal feed in Mexico, according to the National Association of Balanced Feed Producers (CONAFAB) at a press conference on August 27, and expects the total volume of balanced animal feed production in Mexico to increase year by year. "Soybean meal has a higher protein content of 45–47% and is the most widely used product in balanced animal feed. It is the main protein product used," said José Luis Munguia, president of Conafab. Despite the importance of domestic soybean meal, he noted that local soybean production is insufficient to meet demand, making imports a necessary component of the Mexican feed supply chain.
