The Attorney General's Office in Colombia has requested information from the Bogotá Environment Secretariat about the control of shark meat sales in restaurants in the capital following the seizure of 5.5 kilograms of bull shark meat in a Bogotá restaurant. The Public Ministry has initiated an environmental sanctioning process against those responsible for the illegal commercialization of sharks and marine rays, in accordance with Law 1333 of 2009. The seizure was made in a joint operation by the Ministry of Environment and the National Police. The public is encouraged to report any wildlife trafficking activities.
