The Ministry of Agriculture in Spain has issued Order APA/1015/2024, permitting voluntary vaccination against serotype 3 of the bluetongue virus for ovine and bovine animals older than three months. Autonomous Communities may require vaccination based on the local epidemiological situation. To support these efforts, the Ministry will purchase 655,000 vaccine doses. The virus has recently been detected in Portugal and has spread to several European countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Denmark, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.
