During the 2025 harvest campaign, farms in the Southern Federal District are showing a yield for grains and legumes that is, on average, 13% lower than last year's level. This is reported by the materials of the Russian Grain Union (RGU). Currently, the average yield in the South is 31.9 tons per hectare against 36.6 tons per hectare a year earlier. According to the RGU, by the beginning of August, the yield gap with last year has narrowed due to the harvest in the Volgograd region, where the damage to crops from weather conditions was lower than in the Don and Kuban regions. "To date, 23.4 million tons have been harvested, which is 18% less compared to the same period in 2024. The final yield will most likely not reach last year's level," the union notes.
