The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, Ibrahim Yumakli, attended the start of the blackberry harvest in Gökdoğan village, Kurtalان district in Siirt province. He emphasized the importance of contract production and encouraged farmers to develop branded products with high added value.
The Minister reported that this year a harvest of 1,000 tons of blackberries is expected, and producers will receive 70% non-refundable financial assistance.
Yumakli noted that in just the first four months of 2024, blackberry exports reached 427 tons compared to 448 tons for the entire previous year, which indicates significant growth potential.
