The General Secretariat of Fisheries has announced the 2024 bluefin tuna campaign for Canary Islands fishing vessels will commence in January, two months earlier than usual, and end on June 14. The move aims to increase fishing opportunities and evenly distribute catches throughout the year. The maximum catch limit remains unchanged at 537.69 tons. The Canary Islands Government and the fishing sector are advocating for a higher bluefin tuna quota and better conditions for bigeye tuna capture.
