The cost of raw rice has dropped to the level of 2022-2023 and by the first decade of September stood at 25 rubles/kg, while in 2024 it was at the level of 40.7 rubles/kg. This was reported by the chairman of the council of the association "Southern Rice Union" Igor Lobach during a press conference. The price drop is linked to high domestic production: according to the association's estimates, this year it will amount to 1.1 million tons, in 2024 it was at the level of 1.147 million tons. Due to the large production in recent years, record carryover stocks have formed—189 thousand tons in the 2025/26 season (last agricultural year—79 thousand tons). In addition, 250-260 thousand tons of long-grain rice, which is not produced in Russia, are imported annually.
