Egypt: The Council of Ministers approves a grant from the Spanish Agency to treat industrial wastewater in sugar factories

The Cabinet approved, in its meeting today, the draft presidential decree regarding the exchanged letters regarding the grant provided by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development, to finance the project “Treating industrial wastewater in Egyptian sugar factories, and reusing that treated water”, for the benefit of the Environmental Affairs Agency, affiliated with the Egyptian Ministry of Environment. The decree stated that the project aims to improve water quality by reducing pollution by eliminating discharge, and ensuring the sustainability of water resources through reusing treated water, while reducing the environmental impact of sugar factories on the Nile River in Egypt and the negative impact on human health, farms and fisheries.
