Brazil is the world's leading exporter of chicken meat, accounting for 35% of the global market since 2004. In 2021, Brazil produced 14.3 million tons of chicken meat, with 32% exported to over 150 countries, generating revenue of US$ 7.6 billion. From January to July of the following year, chicken meat exports reached 2.8 million tons, generating revenue of US$ 5.6 billion, a 33.3% increase from the same period the previous year. This growth is due to the quality and sustainable practices used by producers, as well as incentives like the Brazilian Chicken Sectorial Project. China and the United Arab Emirates are the primary export destinations, with the majority of exports being cuts of meat. The chicken meat industry in Brazil employs approximately 4 million people.
