The deadline for applying for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidies for 2026 began yesterday, Sunday, February 1, and will remain open until April 30.

Approximately 585,000 farmers and ranchers can submit the single application – direct aid, and per surface area and animal subsidies from the rural development program interventions of the autonomous communities – which this year will account for 4,897 million euros, 8 million euros more than in the previous campaign. Once the deadline has passed, farmers and ranchers can submit a modification of their application – between May 1 and May 31 – to indicate any possible changes in their planting plan. Furthermore, if any incorrect information is detected, farmers and ranchers can adjust their applications without penalty until August 31. The single application must be submitted in the autonomous community where the farm is located or where the majority of its surface area is situated. In the case of not having any surface area, it must be submitted in the autonomous community where the largest number of animals is found.
