According to a report by GroentenFruit Huis, the average per capita consumption of apples in the Netherlands is 10.6 kilos, with a slight increase of 6% compared to 2022. However, Dutch consumption still falls behind that of Germany and Poland. Domestically, 75% of the apples sold are from the Netherlands, with Elstar, Jonagold, and Kanzi varieties being the most popular. Pink Lady, Granny Smith, and Gala are the foreign apple varieties most commonly sold in Dutch supermarkets. The report also finds that families with children and high incomes account for 27% of apple purchases in the Netherlands.
