The EC sets deductions from the Spanish quotas in 2020 for overfishing in 2019

The European Commission (EC) has published the deductions from the fishing quotas assigned for 2020 of those Member States that exceeded those set for 2019, which in the case of Spain affect the species of bigeye, cod, halibut, saithe, redfish, mosaic ray and “other species”. According to the news agency EFE, the Implementing Regulation 2020/1247 that this Thursday collects the Official Journal of the European Union (DOUE) requires for Spain quota deductions for 2020 of 153,939 kg of bigeye from the Atlantic Ocean; 18,338 kg of halibut from zones 1 and 2b; and a further 7,274 kg of cod from Norwegian waters and zones 1 and 2. To these quantities must be added 3,895 kg of “other species” from Norwegian waters and zones 1 and 2; 2,706 kg of redfish from the NAFO 3LN zone; 2,607 kg of saithe from Norwegian waters and from zones 1 and 2; and 2,067 kg of mosaic ray from the waters of the European Union in zone 9.
