The entry into force of changes in the EU regulation on deforestation has been postponed, reducing the administrative burden for operators in the industry.

With the Regulation of the European Union No. 2650 of December 19, 2025, published on December 23, 2025, in the Official Journal of the EU, changes to the community regulation on the prevention of deforestation were adopted, reported the press center of the Executive Agency on Forests. Among the most important changes is the postponement of the implementation of the core obligations of the regulation. The new requirements related to proving the origin of products and submitting declarations will start to be applied from December 30, 2026. Until this date, no new actions are required from operators and traders. The amendments introduce more relaxed procedures for new categories of operators, including micro and small operators, as well as operators downstream in the chain, with the aim of easier implementation of the requirements on their part.
