Between July 1 and December 17, 2023, the member states of the European Union as a whole increased their imports of sunflower oil by 13% compared to the same period of the previous year to 1.05 million tons, according to data published by the European Commission. The main exporter of sunflower oil to the EU is Ukraine, which raised supplies by just over 16% compared to the same period in 2022 to 969,950 tonnes. However, the EC points out that there is no data on imports into Italy, which probably means an even stronger increase in sunflower oil imports into the community. At the same time, the import of soybeans into the EU during the specified period remained almost unchanged - 5.17 million tons compared to 5.15 million tons, and soybean meal decreased by 11% to 7.65 million tons. .
