The article highlights the significant dynamics in Bulgaria's agricultural sector from January to July 2022, focusing on the notable increases and decreases in fresh fruit and vegetable exports and imports. Exports of fresh fruit surged by 80.4% to 47,073 tons, predominantly driven by re-exports of citrus fruits, while watermelons and apricots also saw substantial increases. In contrast, the export of fresh vegetables declined by 39.3% to 22,400 tons, with significant drops observed in cucumbers, cabbage, and peppers. The import of vegetables experienced a slight decrease, whereas fruit import rose by 5.9%, with a notable increase in potato imports. The imported fresh fruit was predominantly citrus fruits and bananas, with apples seeing a 33.5% increase, whereas imports of watermelons, grapes, and cherries experienced declines. This mixed trend in the agricultural sector underscores the complexities and fluctuations in the bulgarian market, particularly in the first seven months of 2022.
