The Interprofessional Association of Lemon and Grapefruit (Ailimpo) has published the balance of the 2024/2025 lemon campaign, which started prematurely in September as a result of the early end of the Southern Hemisphere campaign, especially from South Africa. This advance caused that, during the first weeks, small-sized fruit was collected, generating a tension between supply and demand that was reflected in the prices at origin, which, in general terms, were profitable for the producers. According to Ailimpo, this context was compounded by the negative impact of the proliferation of pests, especially Thrips, which increased the loss of commercial fruit and favored a greater availability of lemon destined for the industry during the first months of the campaign.
