The average value of the food price index, determined by analysts of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, continued to decline for the second consecutive month in October, totaling 126.4 points, which is 2.1 points (1.6%) lower than the revised September figure of 128.5 points. This is reported on the FAO website. "The decrease in the value of indices for cereals, dairy products, meat, and sugar more than compensated for the increase in the value of the vegetable oil price index. Overall, the index value was slightly lower than the October 2024 level and 33.8 points (21.1%) below its peak value reached in March 2022," the report states. As clarified, the average value of the cereals price index in October was 103.6 points, which is 1.3 points (1.3%) lower than the September figure.
