The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has revised upwards the estimate for global cereal production in 2025/26, by 10.1 million tonnes (+0.3%) compared to the September forecast and now stands at 2,971 million tonnes.
The increase is due to upward revisions of the forecasts for the production of all crops, led by wheat, maize, and rice, according to the FAO's recently published Cereal Supply and Demand Brief.
Specifically, global wheat production is estimated to reach 809.7 million tonnes in 2025/26, which represents an increase of 0.6% compared to last month and 1.3% above the production of 2024/25.
