Uruguay has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing its first shipment of frozen boneless horse meat to China, a move that opens new markets for the country. This development comes after inspections by Chinese health personnel in 2023 and audits of three refrigeration plants, with the Clay meat processing plant in Totoral del Sauce, Canelones, being the first to gain authorization for exports. Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries, Fernando Mattos, and Chinese ambassador to Uruguay, Huang Yazhong, both highlighted the importance of this event in strengthening the economic and commercial ties between Uruguay and China.
