The National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA) certified in Entre Ríos the first shipment bound for Ecuador of fresh Argentine oranges officially treated against the Fruit Fly (Ceratitis capitata), marking a historic milestone for the citrus region of Concordia and the Province. SENASA, a decentralized body of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Ministry of Economy of the Nation, is responsible for ensuring the health of citrus fruits throughout the production chain and certifying that the phytosanitary conditions established by the purchasing country are met for Argentine plant products. The certified shipment of 20 pallets with 1,592 boxes and a total weight of 23,880 kilograms, was carried out in full compliance with the Operational Work Plan (PTO) signed between SENASA and Agrocalidad of Ecuador, which establishes the phytosanitary requirements for the export of citrus fruits to that market.
