The first Spanish cherries on the market in Bronisze. Prices are high as every year

Cherries imported from Spain are starting to appear on wholesale markets. We are probably expecting another wave of publications about “astronomical” or “sick” prices in the national media. The quantities of fruit currently available on the Bronisze market are symbolic if we compare them to the peak season in July. It is difficult to estimate them, but we are probably talking about 1 or 2 tons divided among dozens of wholesalers. Visually, pallets of Spanish cherries suggest a larger net weight, because each kilogram is picked into a separate box. Let's move on to the most frequently discussed issue, i.e. prices. They currently range from PLN 85 to PLN 100/kg wholesale. This means very high retail prices, probably reaching PLN 150/kg in Warsaw. Domestic importers have refrained from making purchases, because the first batches from the Iberian Peninsula cost EUR 80-90/kg (PLN 330-380/kg) at the end of March.
