Farmers in Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province, Vietnam, are facing challenges in growing and harvesting vegetables due to high costs, disease, and natural conditions. The first crop of the season has led to soaring prices for vegetables such as pennywort, braised vegetables, and red chili peppers, with some reaching up to 12,000 VND/kg and 52,000 VND/kg, respectively. The region's farmers, who grow over 1.2 million tons of vegetables annually across more than 50 thousand hectares, are struggling with insufficient water and high costs related to disease prevention and irrigation. This situation is further complicated by the need to maintain a specialized crop-growing model to meet market demands in the province, Ho Chi Minh City, and southeast provinces.
