The five fruits that drive the export supply of Guatemala

According to a report by the Association of Exporters of Guatemala (AGEXPORT), the top five of the fruits most exported by Guatemala are bananas, melons, plantains, watermelons and papayas. These products, at the end of 2022, had transactions for US$ 1,295,615,930, representing almost 88% of the exports of the 10 main fruits. The main trading partner for these five fruits is the United States, whose total sales were US$1,050,520,010. Bananas lead the top five of Guatemala's most exported fruits and are the most stable product. Cargo volumes between 2021 and 2022 grew 16.2%. According to the SEAL portal, which provides customs and logistics services in the country, during 2022 Guatemala was the main exporter of fresh or dry bananas in Central America, followed by Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua.
