Arguing that the average age of the machinery in local sawmills is around 40 years, and that many of these timber establishments do not manage to acquire new equipment, the Argentine Forestry Association (AFOA) asked the Chamber of Deputies not to repeal Decree 273/25, which allows the simplified entry of used machinery, key for the competitiveness of the forest-industrial sector and other regional economies. The entity formally requested that Expedient 5216-D-2025, which proposes to repeal the Decree that had allowed the importation of used machines, not be approved.
