According to leading experts, the significantly lower than expected production volumes of sunflower oil in Europe and the Black Sea region contrast sharply with the growing production in Argentina, which has already led to changes in trade flows. Specifically, from January to October 2025, the export of sunflower oil from Argentina increased to a multi-year high of 1.36 million tons. The forecast by Oil World predicts an increase in Argentine exports in 2026, despite the heavy rains that delayed sowing in several regions of Argentina. At the same time, estimates for the size of the harvests and the volumes of sunflower processing have again been reduced for the EU-27, Russia, and Ukraine, reflecting a reduction in supplies of the oilseed raw material for sunflower oil production.
