The Council of Ministers has approved today -October 21- a royal decree regulating the direct granting of aid to compensate for the damage caused to agricultural activity by the major fires that occurred last summer. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food estimates that these aids will have around 4,000 beneficiaries, of which 1,500 are extensive livestock farmers, and that the total amount may reach around 27 million euros. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the amounts will be paid "ex officio" without the interested parties having to carry out any procedure. It is expected that the data from the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund, crossed with those from the Spanish Tax Agency, will allow the identification of those farmers and livestock farmers who have been affected.
