The government is studying a mechanism for controlling the export quota of beef to China.

The federal government is evaluating with the production sector the creation of a mechanism for the internal management of the beef quota that can be exported to China without the application of a 55% surcharge. Brazil could ship this year 1.106 million tons of beef to the Asian country with an import tariff of 12%. The mechanism and the form of management regarding the internal division of the quota are still under discussion in the Executive branch, reported people aware of the discussions to, the real-time news system of Grupo Estado. The government is seeking an understanding with the exporters. The negotiations are being conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC).
