Tra Cu district in Tra Vinh, Vietnam, is renowned for its profitable snakehead fish farming, with farmers seeing a profit of nearly 20,000 VND/kg after a five-month rearing period, resulting in a profit of around 50 million VND per crop. The district has a total area of nearly 450 hectares dedicated to snakehead ponds, producing over 46,000 tons of fish annually. To prevent oversupply and maintain stable prices, farmers have started to spread their harvest, but when releasing seeds, they tend to do it in synchronization, leading to high market prices and substantial profits. However, the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Tra Cu district has urged farmers to adopt a more spread-out farming approach to prevent market oversaturation and ensure a stable output market.
