The Ministry of the Sea has extended the authorized period for the placement of cheek collector ropes on shellfish traps to December 31. Through resolutions from the delegations of A Coruña and Vigo, the Xunta decided that "given the current situation of closures of almost all shellfish farming areas due to biotoxins, the maintenance of 50 additional collector ropes beyond the 500 authorized is permitted." Shellfish farmers will have to communicate the number of collectors they will install during this period and declare how much shellfish they collect. On another note, the episode of lipophilic toxin is gradually subsiding and all areas in the Ares-Betanzos estuary, a third of the Arousa estuary, four in the Vigo estuary, and the facilities in Camariñas are open.
