Uzbekistan is planning to lease up to 1 million hectares of Russian land for crop cultivation due to a lack of arable land and water resource issues. This was discussed in a videoconference between the Uzbekistan Ministry of Agriculture's Jamshid Khodjaev and Russia's Deputy Ministry of Agriculture, Sergey Levin. The crops to be grown include oilseeds, soybeans, and wheat. Several Russian regions have shown interest in supporting this project.
