(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yoon-gu = The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a meeting on the 9th with associations and organizations related to K-Food Plus (agriculture, food, and agricultural industry) exports to discuss strategies for responding to non-tariff barriers. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to investigate the difficulties that export companies face due to non-tariff barriers, analyze them by country and type, and establish detailed response strategies. First, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs decided to set up a dedicated window (tentatively named N-Desk) to receive and support on-site issues. The cases received will be reflected in the National Trade Barriers (NTE) report on agricultural and food products by country. Attendees at the meeting emphasized that the government should continue to pay attention, citing an example where there were problems in the customs clearance process when exporting pears to the United States, but the issues were resolved through the agricultural and food localization support project. Attendees at the meeting included the Food Industry Association, major export organizations for items such as paprika, strawberries, apples, pears, radishes, napa cabbage, Hanwoo beef, and cut flowers, NH Agribusiness Corporation, and Nonghyup Economic Holdings, among others. ykim@yna.co.kr
