The Russian Ministry of Agriculture is considering import quotas for foreign-bred seeds from unfriendly countries for 2025, focusing on rapeseed, potatoes, and beets, while domestic production meets the needs for sunflower and corn. Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut noted that although hybrids for corn and sunflower are often imported from countries like Germany, the USA, and France, domestic varieties have performed better under tough conditions, potentially reducing costs. For 2024, the import quota is set at 34 thousand tons with specific allocations, while zero quotas are applied to wheat, meslin, rye, barley (except malting barley), soybeans, and certain corn seeds.
