Agriculture Minister Saparkhan Omarov of Kazakhstan has outlined plans to cut imports of several products, including poultry meat, sausages, cheeses, apples, sugar, and fish, in an effort to satisfy the country's domestic market. The ministry has identified investment projects for the next three years to boost domestic production in these areas. The poultry meat production currently meets only 58% of the country's demand, so the government plans to expand capacity by 171 thousand tons. Omarov also mentioned that 8 poultry farms, capable of producing 94 thousand tons, were commissioned last year, and 11 more, producing 191 thousand tons, are set to be commissioned in the next three years.
