The Russian Ministry of Agriculture predicts a record potato harvest

This year the potato harvest in Russia will be 8.4 million tons. As Interfax reports, such data were presented by Deputy Head of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture Andrei Razin at a speech in the Federation Council (Federation Council). He noted that this is a record figure for the last 30 years and is 15 percent higher than last year. The Deputy Minister recalled that within the framework of the federal project for the development of potato and vegetable growing, by 2030 the production of root crops should consistently exceed 7.9 million tons. Razin noted that this indicator will fully meet the needs of the domestic market. Also, the deputy head of the Ministry of Agriculture predicted an increase in other agricultural crops, including vegetables. In particular, for the latter he expects the indicator to be at the level of last year.
