The Ministry of Agriculture proposes to increase the quota for importing tomatoes from Turkey from 500 thousand tons to 600 thousand tons. The corresponding draft order has been published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts. Andrey Kazakov, the executive director of the Fruit and Vegetable Union and a member of the Public Council under the Rosselkhoznadzor, clarified to "Agroexpert" that the self-sufficiency level for tomatoes is around 66%. For this reason, there is a shortage, especially in winter, which is why Russia imports the product.
