The entire beans and sesame market has been sluggish with low prices and cold transactions, but between August 14th and 15th, the downward price trend halted. Due to exporter purchases and stockpiling traders reactivating during the price drop, black sesame prices rebounded, with prices reaching around 15,000 to 20,000 Myanmar kyat per bag (3 viss). Although prices have slightly increased, they have not yet returned to previous normal levels. Meanwhile, transactions for varieties such as peanut kernels have also warmed up, with prices rising slightly.
Currently, restrictions on domestic goods transportation have been relaxed, and transactions in the beans and sesame market are gradually returning to normal.
A trading station head stated that as transportation policies are relaxed, buying and selling activities in the beans and sesame market will gradually return to normal.
On August 15th, market prices for various beans were as follows: Jiangxindao green peas at 650,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, Jiangxindao red-waist beans at 480,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, cowpeas at 300,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, and Canadian green peas at 440,000 Myanmar kyat per bag.
On the same day, black sesame prices, which had previously declined, saw a slight rebound, with prices being 780,000 Myanmar kyat per bag for black sesame (3 viss), 345,000 Myanmar kyat per bag for Japanese white sesame (3 viss), 295,000 Myanmar kyat per bag for Myanmar white sesame (3 viss), and 300,000 Myanmar kyat per bag for brown sesame (3 viss).
Additionally, red-skin peanut kernels saw a price rebound, with prices at 8,000 Myanmar kyat per viss; peanut oil at 16,000 Myanmar kyat per viss; and peanut husks at 4,350 Myanmar kyat per viss.
Domestic chickpea prices saw a slight decline and are stabilizing. V2 chickpeas (3 viss) at 250,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, V7 chickpeas (3 viss) at 247,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, Taiwan chickpeas (3 viss) at 240,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, and 929 chickpeas (3 viss) at 247,000 Myanmar kyat per bag. The price decline has prompted stockpiling traders to increase their purchasing power.
Export bean prices remain low. Mung beans (3 viss) at 255,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, black wheat beans (3 viss) at 287,000 Myanmar kyat per bag, and green beans (3 viss) at 345,000 Myanmar kyat per bag.
As domestic transportation restrictions are relaxed, transactions in the beans and sesame market are gradually becoming active again.
